In the freight industry, most shippers prefer to wrap the pallets up in shrink-wrap. This ensures that the products stay stable during shipment. By keeping the products stable there is less risk of product damage during shipment. In addition, when the load is stable there is less risk of the delivery driver wrecking due to a heavy load shifting and causing the truck and trailer to tip over. There are several ways that pallets can be wrapped but the most popular method is to use a rotary tower pallet wrapping machine.

No Load Weight Limit

What makes this machine so popular is that it can wrap pallets that other machines can not wrap for various reasons. A turntable machine can not wrap pallets that exceed their weight capacities. The rotary tower can, because the pallet load sits on the floor and not on the machine – thus allowing this machine to handle any load weight.

Wrapping Tall Loads Fhopepack

Tall loads can be damaged on turntable models. The rotary tower can handle loads as tall as 80″ high. Turntable models can cause light loads to fall apart but the rotary tower keeps the load stationary while it is being wrapped. Unstable loads are also a problem on turntables and since the rotary tower keeps loads stationary it is the best method for wrapping unstable loads.

Entry Level Equipment

For those that do not have the need for a large pallet wrapping machine there is the entry level rotary tower machine. It is semi-automatic, works at 12 RPM, and is designed for facilities that deal in smaller load sizes. The maximum load size that it can accommodate is 52″ x 52″ x 80″ H. It has three frame types to choose from, the wall mounted frame, the cantilevered frame and the gantry frame.

Mid-Level

The next level up is an in between model that can accommodate a bigger size and operates on a higher RPM. With this in machine, you will get a semi automatic machine that runs at 14 RPM. The load size that is can accommodate is at a maximum of 56″x 56″x 80″H. This one comes in three frame mounting options as well, offering the wall mount, cantilevered and gantry.

The Fully-Loaded Version

For facilities that deal with a heavy product load there is a fully loaded semi-automatic machine that runs as fast as 15 RPM. Not only does it move faster, thus allowing for an increase in productivity, but it also accommodates larger loads. This fully loaded machine can wrap loads up to a maximum size of 58″ x 58″ x 80″H. This machine comes in the wall mount, cantilevered and gantry frames.

The rotary tower pallet wrapping machine works by rotating a control arm around the load. As the control arm rotates, it wraps the load tightly in a shrink wrap thus securing the load. Most brands come equipped with three wrapping cycles that can be used, all of which is controlled by a keypad control panel. The pallets can be wrapped either up or down, up and down and top cover pause, giving you more control over how your load is wrapped prior to shipment or storage.
